4 very simple dressing recipes that will enhance the taste of your favorite salad

B. Baratinskaite, a food production expert of the supermarket chain “Maxima” in Lithuania, is sure that the taste of this dish can be improved or ruined by sauce. That’s why she shares the secrets to making salads and four simple dressing recipes.

“When it comes to salad dressings in particular, sales show that shoppers prefer olive oil and lemon and honey and mustard dressings.

We also see the biggest increase in sales of salads during the summer season,” says Ernesta Dapkiene, director of the chain’s communications and corporate affairs department.

B. Baratinskaite says that it is important to know a few rules so that the salad stays crisp in the bowl. Before preparing the salad, wash green leaves and vegetables or fruits with cold water. The best is under a gentle stream.

After washing vegetables and salad leaves, be sure to dry them with a paper towel or a regular kitchen towel.

“When preparing a salad, be careful with the dressing: it can improve the taste of the salad, but it can also ruin it. Therefore, prepare it very carefully and try not to add too many spices,” says B. Baratinskaite.

Balsamic sauce

You will need:

  • 180 ml of olive oil;
  • 60 ml balsamic vinegar;
  • 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup;
  • 1 teaspoon of favorite mustard;
  • salt, pepper to taste;

“This salad is perfect for flavoring a green salad made from a variety of vegetables. Put all the ingredients in a jar or bowl, cover with a lid and shake well until a homogeneous consistency,” shares B. Baratinskaite.

Honey and mustard sauce

You will need:

  • 50 g of honey;
  • 50 g Dijon mustard;
  • 50 g of lemon juice;
  • 50 g of olive oil;
  • pepper, salt to taste.

This sauce can be called an eternal classic. Mix honey and mustard, shake well.

Add lemon juice, salt and pepper. Slowly add the oil, beat with a whisk.

Yogurt sauce

You will need:

  • 280 g thick Greek yogurt;
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil;
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice;
  • 1 finely chopped garlic clove;
  • a few sprigs of finely chopped dill or other herbs;
  • salt and pepper to taste.

This sauce is very simple and quick to prepare. Whisk Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and garlic. While whisking, add oil a little at a time. Season the sauce with salt, pepper and chopped dill. Shake with a stick.

Lemon sauce

You will need:

  • 100 ml of olive oil;
  • lemon juice;
  • 1 lemon peel;
  • teaspoon Dijon mustard;
  • finely chopped garlic cloves;
  • 0.5 teaspoons of salt;

Pour the oil little by little and beat with a whisk. The sauce should have a creamy consistency,” advises food production expert B. Baratinskaite.
